Closed Caption trick doesn't work.

 Tried the work-around suggested in the post:

I downloaded visible.mmt and put it in the C:\Program Files (x86)\MediaMall folder and stopped and restarted the PlayOn server  but I don't get the video player window that will allow me to turn on CC on Youtube Videos.

 

I'm running PlayOn 4.2.112.18179 on an Intel i5 machine running 64 bit Windows 7

    Hi ,

    Unfortunately, at this time, closed captioning in the Amazon channel is not supported in PlayOn. We're working on adding support, but do not have an ETA at this time. We're sorry to disappoint.

    We've been told for years that subtitle support for Amazon is being worked on. I'm not convinced they'll ever deliver at this point.

    Try downloading the mmt file again.

    The window opens when PlayOn starts recording the video and closes when it is completed. If you click anywhere on the PlayOn screen, you may end up "hiding" the window behind the display -- minimize the PlayOn screen and any other open windows.

    I have been running with the visible.mmt for over a year via all the various versions that have been released on a Windows 7 desktop with no problems.

    CC is a pain and depending upon the channel, not always as stable as it should be. Amazon seems to be the worst for inconsistency between shows, especially where caption size and background are concerned. That happens to be true when not running PlayOn and just streaming Amazon videos. The other channels do not seem to have the same problem.

    Yes, thanks for the info that the video player window may be hidden behind the main PlayOn screen.  I discovered this myself by accident.  For me it doesn't seem to matter whether I click on anything in the PlayOn window or not, the video player screen always is hidden behind and requires that I minimize PlayOn to get to it.

    Once I discovered where it was I was able to use the video player screen to turn on closed captions without a problem.  Of course you have to be very quick to avoid missing the first few seconds of the video's closed captions.  It's too bad there is no way to automatically enable CC for Youtube and many other channels.  Nonetheless the workaround is good enough. Thank you PlayOn!

     

    One thing that would be nice is if the video player window had audio.  That way you could watch the video as it records rather than having to wait for it to record and then playing the recording.

    I agree. I suspect that PlayOn has an .mmt that provides audio, but I've never had a situation where the audio was messed up.

    Please help me... I can't tell the difference between the video player and the PlayOn screen. Can some give me the steps to minimizing the PlayOn screen and how to record with my closed caption. Thank you so much for your help and have a great day.

    The PlayOn screen is the one you are in when you start recording the the video.  It has a blue band at the top.  At the left of this blue band it says  "PlayOn".  If you look at the right side of this top blue band you will see a minus sign, a square, and an X.  Click on the minus and that will shrink the PlayOn screen to a little icon at the bottom of your screen.

    Once you have clicked the - sign and shrunk the PlayOn window you should see another window with the video you are recording playing in it.  You can click on the closed caption icon on that screen to turn on the closed captions.

    Once the closed captions are visible on this second screen you can click on the little PlayOn icon at the bottom of your screen to return the PlayOn screen to its original size.

    Greetings and thank you John B for your help. I will run a practice test on recording CC with my video. It would be nice if PLayOn found a way for CC to be activated on the screen or had a tab for Closed Caption within the playOn settings...Again thank you so much.

    It is not working for me at all. I get no screen behind the playon window, and cc will not work on many of the channels now. I'm only getting them on Netflix and Hulu.  HBO Go just stopped working. This is making playon relatively useless if this can't be fixed, as I am not able to really watch without cc. I have already deleted the mmt and redownloaded it, but still no cc on anything but Netflix and Hulu.

    I get the video window using mmt -- but it seems "pasted" on to the screen background. The video itself plays, but it is not click-responsive on any part of the video. It is just like clicking on the blue screen background. Even the video window is stuck to the top left corner and about 10% cut off -- and of course cannot be moved.

    I am trying to record Amazon prime video, where subtitle is a must as the program is in Chinese.

    It is quite frustrating.
