Can't record off Amazon

I've gotten past the Amazon validation thing and recorded 3 movies from Amazon last week. But for the past few days, it won't work at all.

Symptoms:

I can go to the Amazon channel and see movies on the list ok.

When I select a video and "record", it tries to start, but it never gets to the stage when it is actually showing any seconds recorded. It fails after about 20 seconds without any message. I tried selecting"PLAY" for an Amazon prime video to see if that would work, and it doesn't work either. It shows "loading" for about 20 seconds, then flashes the movie page on Amazon briefly in the Playon window, then just closes it without any error message. 

I am able to record off Netflix currently just fine, and my windows firewall has all the playon software, netflix.com and amazon.com on the exclusion list, so I don't think it's a firewall issue. Though I have installed malwarebytes since I last recorded amazon. Like I said, I can record off netflix though, so I doubt that's the issue.

I also am able to go to the same movie page on Amazon in Google Chrome and hit "play" and the movie plays fine.

Suggestions?

    Yep, having the same problem. Have tried a couple of "fixes" from other strings with no success.

    same issue but before my pop-up window closes it states chrome needs to update

    I have the same issue.  I have the latest firmware version.  I can log in and play amazon from my browser.  But can't play or record.  I get the error that chrome needs to update but I also have the latest version of chrome.  Windows 7 64 bit.

    its that the playon uses a dedicated portable browser like chromium to play and record from so that needs updates not your chrome.

     I am having the same problem. And this just after purchasing 2 days ago.

     

    When is it going to get fixed. I want to know if I should request a refund now and find another way to do this

    It was posted on the 17th that there would be an update available in "the next few days".  It is now the 26th of January without an update to PlayOn.  Could someone please provide a status update again on where this issue is and how soon to a fix???

    Same problem here and I'm trying to record episodes of a show for my granddaughter. If I can't record anything from Amazon, Playon is pretty much useless to me until this is corrected and I paid for a Lifetime License *head desk*

    Same issue. I just signed up and downloaded PlayOn yesterday, so I should have the latest version.  If I try to record an Amazon Prime Video, it fails (repeatedly).

    As with FemmeDraven, downloading Amazon videos is pretty much the only reason I signed up with Playon--and I even asked support about this use case before I signed up.

    Amazon is not recording again. I upgraded 2/1/2018 and it worked fine all day. At 12:03am on 2/2/2018 it stopped again. Netflix records fine but not Amazon. I updated again today and still not working.

    I just upgraded and Amazon still does not record for me.

    ...hope it gets fixed as Amazon was 50% of why I signed up.

    I just updated to version 4.4.3 and I am recording right now. It seems to be working so far. I downloaded the new version. Used Control Panel to uninstall the previous version, ran CCleaner (gets rid of temp files and other such files - free), then installed 4.4.3. It still retained my logins and passwords, so not everything was wiped during the uninstall or CCleaner. I had removed the two layer security from Amazon a few weeks ago, so it connected fine without sending me a text with the passcode. Still have my fingers crossed. So far so good.

    Nope, recorded a video, but it recorded a commercial and then ended before the show started. Still broken.

    I just downloaded the latest update and it still will not record.  I started a recording and it got in about a 2 minutes and failed again.  This really needs to be fixed.

    And still, no resolution nearly 2 months after this issue was initially reported and exactly one month since the playon people chimed in to say they were working on it. Soooo?

    Log a ticket. I did & they sent me a .mmt file to add to the mediamall folder that makes the Amazon file accessible and let me do a second password authorization. It works now after that, although it has errored out overnight twice but if I stop the server & restart it in settings it works fine.

    I waited for 4 upgrades to go by before upgrading to 4.4.4.21343.  I still can't record from Amazon.  "unknown error".  I wonder it Playon is testing the releases for Amazon operability before releasing them?

    I have version 4.4.4.21343 installed for the last two weeks and have been recording from Amazon successfully.  I had problems initially when it restarted recording - quality was an issue.  But it has improved lately and I just completed recording an episode of Defiance from Amazon without issue.

    I installed 4.4.4.21343. For the first day, I had no trouble recording off Amazon. I recorded 3 shows. But then the next day, and for the few days since, it doesn't work. Now it will start recording, wracking up the minutes. But then it craps out after a short while with a message that the recording failed. So I'm basically back where I started.

    It is recording Amazon now after the .mmt fix but everything I record now has stutters @ every 2 minutes. Watchable but annoying. I'm about to throw this program away.

    i too have the latest version and am unable to record amazon.  it's february 20th.  any updates for us?

    I got the latest version a few days ago and initially had trouble but after I disabled Bit Defender AutoPilot it began working fine.  I was able to record all Electric Dreams episodes with no problems.

    (in case the NSA is monitoring:  all recordings are for my personal use only <smile>)

    I could get Amazon to record for the past few days with Windows 10 only.  Won't record with my Windows 7 PC.  I run native Windows 10 on a laptop and  also in a Parallels virtual machine on my iMac Pro.  Both recorded Amazon until last night.   I thought it was fixed until midnight last night when all my 3 systems stopped recording.  I can no longer get Amazon to record.  Other channels (HBO Go, and Netflix) record fine on all 3 systems.  My credentials confirm in the settings window.  I can view Amazon shows streaming.  I have the latest software 4.4.7.21425.  All windows updates current.  Several reboots.  Something changed last night at midnight and I suspect it was at Amazon.

    I was finally able to get Amazon to record.  I'm on version 4.4.7.21425.  I clicked on Play to try and watch a video instead of record.  Strangely, the browser that popped up showed Watch w/ Prime 30 day trial or something like that.  The weird thing is that it showed that it was logged on as me.  I clicked on Watch w/ trial and it asked for my Amazon password.  I entered it and selected the option to stay logged in.  The video then started to play.  I stopped it and closed the browser.  I then tried to record the video and that worked.The videos now show a screen like below in the recording, but I'll take it.

    The post by CV worked for me also. It was like I had to sign up for a 30 day trial, but I am already a member of prime.

    So, I turned on PlayMark, which is the browser recording feature to try to get something recorded thru that.

    It's clear that Amazon is trying to thwart PlayOn and services like it. The Playon recording will start...but after about 3 or 4 minutes Amazon comes back with a "maximum number of streams for your account" message. I suspect that's why the recordings are starting then failing.

    I'll bet we are seeing the last of Amazon recording thru PlayOn
