I still pay for Netflix to send me DVD's, and often times they are encrypted. Rather than going through the hassle of ripping a DVD and streaming it to my Roku, I would rather that PlayOn offered the ability to stream the encrypted DVD. The non encrypted DVD's will work just fine, add the directory to the My Media folder, and life is good.

Cowboy77 It's an interesting idea...not sure if it's legal

Paul M I don't see why it wouldn't be legal? I mean, I can play encrypted DVD's through VLC on my computer, would streaming the content be any different than setting up something like XBMC? I honestly don't know.

Cowboy77 Well, most of the stuff you stream with PlayOn you can download with PlayLater. Someone could conceivably make a script for local files and use PlayLater to download the stream so it's not encrypted as I think it'd have to on the fly decrypt to stream to begin with or store it in the buffer...I guess. It gets pretty complex pretty fast and I'm fairly sure the DVD sellers don't want you to decrypt DVDs...

PlayOn Support (Chris) It is not possible to stream any DVDs or CDs through a media server like PlayOn. It's just not something we can even develop for PlayOn.
