Please fix this, I am able to record just fine, but I ave to unisntall the updated program and install 4.3.35 to get my channels back....

This should be a no brainer. add a check box to enable/disable automatic updates.
There seems to be a manual way to stop automatic updates. You do this by editing your computer's "hosts" file. It's a special plain-text file (without a file extension, even in Windows) that allows you to override DNS lookups.
Note: Before editing any system files it's best to make a backup copy first.
In Windows this file is located at "%SystemRoot%\System32\drivers\etc\" or "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc". You simply open the file in a (plain) text editor, like Notepad or Notepad++, and add the following two lines to the end, and then save the file. (The first line is a comment, so you remember what it does. The second line tells your computer that the server used for checking for updates is actually your computer, using the special "loopback" address.)
