Amazon your amazon user and password are correct, but additional validation is necessary

Hello,

I have opened a ticket on this, but haven't heard any resolution on this. Internet searches have provided some info on this problem, however, the solution was that Playon came out with a version update...well I have now upgraded twice, and getting this issue. When I try to browse Amazon Videos I get a message box "your amazon user and password are correct, but additional validation is necessary" and when I go to the website, there is no questions to answer. Any additional help would be appreciated.

Hi Bill -- thanks for posting here.  It looks like the most recent tickets from you were for a general recording issue you were having, not anything specific to Amazon.  Please send in a support ticket from PlayOn Settings so we can take a look at your logs (send to my attention and the ticket will be escalated)

While those may have been my most recent tickets, if you look back in November you'll see I posted on this thread having the exact same problem, and it persits. "Please revalidiate your Amazon settings." And I do, and it says "You're password and username are correct, go to Amazon and blah blah blah." Same thing as everyone else, still not working.

Hi Bill -- we understand, but that specific issue hasn't been a problem in any sort of general sense if a very long time.  Most of the folks commenting in this thread recently who are experiencing issues like that are Amazon UK, DE or CA users. Amazon is working fine for us here when we test and others have been making Amazon recordings without issue.  I'm happy to personally troubleshoot with you but I need to review your most recent logs.

PlayOn fails to authenticate me to my Amazon account with 2FA on (it was working just fine up until 3 days ago; have had 2FA on my Amazon account for over 2 years).  Even when I turn off 2FA on my Amazon account, PlayOn still fails to authenticate me and gives me the same exact error messages.

    Please advise.

Hi Mark -- we're aware of the issue and working on a fix.  Looks like something changed with the Amazon site and a login redirect. It looks like the change was made sometime between 7/31 and 8/1.  We think we've actually come up with the fix and are running tests now.

Four computers (mine, my son's, a friend and my backup computer that I use to test with when problems arise) all fail to log into amazon through the playon software.  I even tried the Alt-Shift on Start Server to see what Internet Explorer would do (on my main system then on my Test System) and the movie will not start playing in the browser that PlayOn started but will play if I bring up Internet Explorer 11 and log into Amazon and play the exact same movie.

I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling PlayOn but same issue. Two system come up with a sign-in error of 101, The other two gave an error wanting additional authentication.

On my main system, I set up Amazon's two-step authentication but that did not help.

Amazon is not completely dead for me, my son and my friend.

I post this after seeing that PlayOn support is working the issue.  I am just trying to give them some more information to help with this issue.

Hi All -- we released an update a few minutes ago.  Please download and install the latest version -- www.playon.tv/getplayon

After installing the update, repeat the login process for Amazon and the issue should be corrected.  This issue didn't appear to be impacting all Amazon accounts in the same way (2 of our 5 test accounts didn't exhibit the problem behavior at all). If, after updating, you're still experiencing an issue please send in a support request using the support button in PlayOn Settings so we can review logs.

Thanks Skip!  This fixed my problem.  I've been able to use the Amazon Prime Video channel without any problems up until yesterday.  Suddenly yesterday, it stopped working and nothing I could do with OTP 2 step verification on or off would work.  This fixed the problem.  For me, I now seem to have to have 2-step turned on.  When I have the Channel tested in Settings, I get a text message code and PlayOn requests the code.  It worked great.

    THANKS PLAYON!!  THANKS SKIP!

Now...if we could just get a few more channels...IMDB channel would be wonderful.  A way to record from YouTube/Vimeo/etc like we could with browser plugin would rock too.

The latest update seems to have resolved my issue as well.  Thank you.

I did the latest update today (per Skip) but I still get the same error message. I went to send in a support ticket (again, per Skip) and I get a message that PlayOn is working on a fix and I don't need to submit a support ticket. So, should I send in a support ticket or not?

Should I keep the Amazon 2-step or disable it? I had it disabled the first time I tried to log in after the update and it didn't work, but adding it back didn't help, either. What do you mean by after installing the update, "repeat the login process for Amazon"? Which login process?

    Thanks!

I'm not sure how or why, but after turning the 2-step off and then redoing it with a secondary phone number and following through to the end of setup, then starting and stopping the PlayOn system and testing it, it finally had a window pop up in the channels part of system asking for the 2-step validation password and let me log in. The first time I set up the 2-step system in Amazon, I didn't get a confirmation email from Amazon that it was set up. This time I did get the confirmation email and it worked in PlayOn.

Is anyone else experience this issue today?  It has worked fine until this weekend and now I cannot login to Amazon.

    On 2/18/20, I submitted a support ticket:
    > AOL Prime channel is not working. When I press the Test button in Settings, it says my login info is right, but it needs additional permission. Error 502. I had this problem back in August 2019, but an update on 08/02 fixed it. It's back now. I have tried it by turning on and off Amazon's OTP with no change to Playon.

    > Bill from PlayOn replied: I'm happy to help. We've been able to reproduce this issue and our developers are working on a fix. We hope to have an update available very soon.

    > 2/23/20 - still having problem...
