Development of additional software

Since the software for playon has to be constantly updated in order to record content (as channels are constantly changing):

I would suggest HARDWARE support of a Hauppauge for example and use the scheduler and menu for playon to set up those recordings. THAT is all I need... a good scheduler!

What DVR software have you tried? Have you tried using the DVR feature that's now built into Plex Media Server (requires a PlexPass subscription)?

Besides PlayOn isn't very good for scheduling the recording of live content. (People have requested improvements for that.)

    playon

I do actually have Plex and lifetime pass. But I was referring to directvnow, Amazon Video, Netflix, etc. :) I use over the air currently with Plex....

What do those streaming video services have to do with Hauppauge hardware? What you're asking is not clear.

    playon

I would think it would be very clear.

What has Plex got to do with Playon?

Playon can play/record from all of the mentioned services. Plex does not, and certainly never will.

When I have troubles with Playon, it is always recording and not playing a title. I have my own commercial detection system, all I need is a great scheduler.

Actually, now that I think about it....  If I use visible.mmc and record that content between PC/Monitor via HDMI I think I can accomplish some of what I am looking for. I can strip commercials and edit the result into programs right now.

It would be easier if I could create a play (to hardware) schedule (as I can as a software record schedule) that could start and stop the hardware encoder before and after the program. Bypass the Flash issues we have with the software encoder currently in use.

    Its a thought.
