Can't record off Amazon

I've gotten past the Amazon validation thing and recorded 3 movies from Amazon last week. But for the past few days, it won't work at all.

Symptoms:

I can go to the Amazon channel and see movies on the list ok.

When I select a video and "record", it tries to start, but it never gets to the stage when it is actually showing any seconds recorded. It fails after about 20 seconds without any message. I tried selecting"PLAY" for an Amazon prime video to see if that would work, and it doesn't work either. It shows "loading" for about 20 seconds, then flashes the movie page on Amazon briefly in the Playon window, then just closes it without any error message.

I am able to record off Netflix currently just fine, and my windows firewall has all the playon software, netflix.com and amazon.com on the exclusion list, so I don't think it's a firewall issue. Though I have installed malwarebytes since I last recorded amazon. Like I said, I can record off netflix though, so I doubt that's the issue.

I also am able to go to the same movie page on Amazon in Google Chrome and hit "play" and the movie plays fine.

Suggestions?

CV's method seems to be working for me also - for now.

Responding to Matt's point above, I suspect Amazon watches threads like this one to know which 'hole' they next need to plug.

I'll enjoy it while I can.

Updating and playing through Playon and re-entering password at a prime screen ended up working for me as well.  I activated a trial of Starsfor 7 days to record a show for my 4 y/o and was disappointed when it wasn't working.  Thanks CV for posting your solution!  It wasn't working when trying to play a Stars video but once I tried to load a prime one it worked like a charm.

Not working for me....On version 4.4.9.21627.

When I launch a video to play it, the dialog opens and hangs.  After a few seconds it displays the login screen, but I'm unable to click on anything.  After a few seconds it disappears....not sure if it's timing out or crashing.

The same result on multiple TV videos and movies.

Not working for me right now, either.  Neither is streaming play via PlayOn.

    Hi,

I open a browser and log into Amazon and HBO GO, make sure to check "stay logged in".  After that playon recording works, probably for the next 2 weeks.

I have to reboot my pc twice a day for recording from anywhere to keep on working, is there a fix for that?

    Regards

I'm having the same problem with Amazon. I just signed up for Playon and was able to successfully record two movies but now I'm getting 'recording failed' messages halfway through the next two movies, even though I 'retried' the download two times, both times. Will try CV's solution up above and report back (I'm able to record for an hour or so before it error's out, so I'll have to wait to see if the solution works for me).

Also, I started to wonder if it was possible I was being throttled by Comcast/Xfinity, but signing into my internet account I see I actually am nowhere near the limit.

    "952GB remaining of 1024GB monthly plan (August 01 - August 31).

Welp, last night, late, I was able to record successfully once more, this time trying again with a previously errored out purchase. I loosely followed "CV's" suggestion above to first hit Play after making the connection to Amazon, watching the movie for maybe 10 seconds, then changing over to Record. I then waited a couple of hours and was able to record another one.  Additionally, I've also had my successes late at night - but errored out during the day, for what it's worth. (This was while internet test speeds were around 50 megabit/sec).

As someone mentioned above, I wouldn't be surprised if Amazon's algorithms are looking for this kind of serial purchase/record kind of behavior and so starts throttling you back if you do it too much in a day? Unless of course others can chime in and say that they've recently done mass recordings in a day from Amazon and had no problems, which would mean maybe we're just imagining things. ;)
